A guide to our Baile Munna Sports Hub!
We’re always happy to see you online and in-store (it’s the same feeling as a ‘buzzer beater’ to win the game). If you’ve yet to visit, we don’t want you missing out so we’ve created a guide to our Sports Hub to bring you up-to-date.
When did Decathlon Baile Munna first open?
You might be familiar with Decathlon from a trip abroad in recent years but in September 2017, we brought our famous sports products to Ireland when decathlon.ie went live. Shortly after we opened online, we had our eyes set on opening our very own sports hub for you to further experience the joy of sports. On 13 June 2020 our sports hub was born as Decathlon Baile Munna opened its doors for the first time to the public. What we didn’t realise at the time was that this would be the first of three openings within the year due to the pandemic. Fast forward one year later and we are fully open, bringing sports to the many in a safe and fun way.
How many sports are available at Decathlon?
Recently overheard in our store was two customers talking about wanting to become a hiker, a skier, a runner, a footballer, a gymnast and a cyclist. Hearing these conversations fills us with joy as we aim to make sports available to all, whether it’s your favourite sport or something you’ve never tried before. We are proud to say our Sports Hub is the largest sports store in Ireland. With over 70 sports available, we offer customers access to all sports and enable them to try before they buy. Visit our website (decathlon.ie), click ‘All Sports’ at the top of the page and find the sport you want to discover.
How to get to our store?
Currently, we have 1 store in the Republic of Ireland and it’s located on St Margaret's Road, Ballymun, Dublin. If you’ve travelled across the M50, you’ve probably seen us next to IKEA. We are easily accessible no matter what direction you are coming from. Remember, if you can’t visit us in person, you can always visit us online.
Our address: Decathlon Ballymun, St Margaret's Rd, Ballymun, Dublin, D11 X2NC
What do we have that is different from other sports retailers?
At Decathlon Ireland, we don’t see ourselves as being your average sports retailer. We have plenty of features and specs on site that you might not know about. Let's take a look at them individually:
Our Solar Panels
Something you may not know, is that our Baile Munna Flagship Store is run completely on 100% renewable energy, generated from our solar panels on the roof.
This feature is hugely important to us, as it allows us to be more environmentally friendly in our business activities, meaning that we are helping to be more sustainable to our planet and our playground for future generations of sports lovers.
Electric Car Chargers
In line with our efforts to be environmentally friendly and more sustainable in our business practices, we also have electric car chargers available for customers to use for free while they shop in store at Decathlon.
Free Parking on site
We offer free parking on site for all of our customers, with wheelchair accessible and child friendly dedicated parking spots. You may notice some patches of grass in our car park, and this is simply a draining function for any rain.
At Decathlon Baile Munna we also have a series of “Playgrounds” that you can avail of for free. These include our Basketball court, Football Astro, Open Gymnasium and Cycling track.
For our Football Astro and Basketball Courts, you can book online for free to practice your sport with your friends and family. We are currently taking bookings with a maximum of 25 people per booking with one booking per hour, per playground to allow for social distancing and covid regulations. We will take your contact details and you can enjoy your sport.
Our cycle track is mainly used as part of our “Try before you buy” offering, meaning that if you choose a bike from our cycling department and you are unsure if it is the bike for you, you can simply ask a member of our team to take you out to the cycle track to test the bike before you purchase.
And for our gymnasium, this is fully open to the public with no bookings required. We have a range of park-style gym equipment for you to workout on. Including monkey bars, pull up bars, leg press, shoulder press, cross trainer and more.
Finally, we have our RFID tills, which is a very new concept for Irish consumers. The technology is used in our self service checkouts and allows you to simply scan your items without the use of barcodes or physical scanners. Our checkout process is as contactless as possible, but assistance is available from our team mates if required. We do also accept cash at selected tills so be sure to let a member of our team know if you are unsure about anything.
For more information on our RFID tills, you can see a video demonstration below.
What other services do we provide?
We have a Workshop on site at Decathlon Baile Munna, which caters for many different services and offerings. Our team is trained on repairs, not only for bikes, but also for many other Decathlon products that come with guarantees, including everything from Kayaks and Stand Up Paddleboards to Hiking backpacks and tents. As part of our sustainability commitments, we will do our very best to prolong the lifespan of your Decathlon products.
Our workshop also offers personalisation services, where you can get both vinyl printing and embroidery done on your products. The possibilities here are endless, from your name on your water bottle, bike or helmet, to personalised dog collars and printed football jerseys.
We also have a dedicated team for our Business to Business offering. Whether you’re part of a school or clublooking for equipment, or whether you’re a business looking to give your employees a tax free gift, our business to business team are on hand to help with any queries or bulk orders that you may have.
Without a shadow of a doubt, we have plenty to offer for all ages and almost any sport, at any level too. If you want to discover a new sport, or continue your passion sport, you sure will love Decathlon Baile Munna for any of your sporting needs. So why not visit us in store today to experience our Sports Hub for yourself and be sure to let us know what you think!
